Can anyone tell me if these motors in an EFI4.2 are any more economical or will it be even worse. Currently running duel fuel and 32"s so nothing extreme, just want more grunt and noise without compromising range.

I take it you want to know if the LS1 will use more or less fuel than the TB 42 EFI. I hope it uses less, as i bought aLS1 out of a VX SS and am getting the gear together to fit it up later this year. Commodores get around 12 to 13L per 100 k's if driven sensibly. With a computor tune, you can get more power and better economy. The GQ is only 300kg or so heavier than a commy, but not as good in wind resistance. So im expecting fuel usage around 15 to 16 L per 100 k's. Will find out soon, but not soon enough. Cant wait.

Cool, would be interested in your build and how it all goes. What, exactly are you putting into what? I've been looking through here and some guys say its easy, others a nightmare. I'm thinking of dropping my manual and sticking a holden auto in with it....early stages yet

My dad put an LT1 in his LWB patrol about 5 years ago and it has had better fuel economy than a nissan 6. It goes fast too

mate, mine used the same fuel, when driven the same. but mine had an exo cage and 37's. Fitted at the same time as the ls1. they can drink anywhere from 20 to 35lt depending.

Do you have a Holden 5ltr or LS1 in it? Chalk and cheese between them

the ls1's main drawback is torque at low RPm.
but a cam would fix that.
