Questions

Well everything is going well but as usual for the newbie's i have some questions which might seem a little silly but are confusing me.

1. I was told by the local arb guy that W.a. Is introducing tough new laws on lifts etc as of the first of next month???

2. If i was to put 33's on a standard height swb maverick would they fit???? I was told if i spring lift i can get vibrations! Im not after a super off road beast, yet :D

3. Also when driving and in the middle of changing gears the revs dont drop quick like they should?? I know thats not super desriptive but if anyone has any ideas that would be great.

2. 33's will fit with a small lift (search for hottiemonsters thread on this)

3. sounds like the deacceleration valve

i am putting 3" in mine for the 5th of January hopefully, maybe the 8th if things dont work out.

i think i was told the rev dropping is normal but not certain.

Yeah that rev thing is as weird as all hell but mine does it too and it seems to be so common that it's normal.

dont go for a small lift you will only waste your money when you pull it all out and fit a bigger lift later speaking from experience and my mate did the same also .If you want to see what is possible on a reasonable bugget give me a caal to see my mate shorty or mine

All depends on what you want to do with the car... Daves dads GQ has Q78s with 4inch lift, why you would want more for everyday GQ is beyond me.

Not everyone wants to run 35+ tires.

Would be easier if people said what they wanted from their car and budget could also help!

Probably only about 3" springs, no body lift. He is absolutely rapt with how it goes

I think the trick here, if you're not exactly sure what you want, is to do a decent-sized body lift OR a decent-sized suspension lift first, see how you go, and then when you want more lift do the other kind.

I am gonna do 2" body to the Mav real soon but will probably leave the suspension stock while I run my 32" muddies for a while (the 32s would fit with no lift at all). Down the track, if I feel I want more, I'll do 3" suspension and fit 35s. (Of course down the track could be pretty soon...)

Better than doing 1" body and 1" suspension right off and and then having to upgrade both later.

The reasons I plan on doing the body lift before the suspension are basically that (a) it's cheaper and (b) once I've done it I can do slider bars etc and not have to change their height later, since they mount to the chassis but have to line up with the body.

Anyway. To each their own!

Okay so basically i can fit 33's with a little shoehorning :) ??? I basically want it for beach work and around town stuff. I didnt want to go to a larger lift due to diff vibrations or something like that.
I was also told there are different sizes of 33's?????
Also how can it be normal for the revs to drop so slowly?? It makes it hard to change gears especially when the traffic isnt moving very fast. Will look in the manual for deacceleration valve :armsup:

1) You can fit 44's with some anglegrinding...
2) you want AT's or road tires not MT's.
3) you should be able to go 3inch suspension without hassles, but EVERY Shorty GQ is different.
4) 33inch is 33inch.. :P you mean width? 10.5, 11.5, 12.5 basically
5) means they dont know what is wrong and fuck off...

5. boost controlled deceleration device or B.C.D.D. control valve
it is mounted to the carby and has wires coming out of the soleniod valve on the side in the middle of the valve, when looking straight on it has a rubber cap in the middle this can be removed and the screw inside can be adjusted this will affect the speed at which the engine speed reduces.
(warning adjusting this device outside specifications will affect emmision controls)
