Swap the whole firewall/cowl over by drilling out the spotwelds with the 1.3 firewall you already have

Install a 1.3 master cylinder (you will aslo need a 1.3 column, pedal box etc as it's all quite different because of the position of the booster)

hook up a vacuum line from the inlet manifold of the 4K to the booster of the 1.3 master cylinder.

Job done.

I would have thought you are a way off of needing to hook it up yet?

One you have the 1.3 firewall in it'll be just a matter of hooking it all back up like a 1.3. As for the vacuum line - there will be a fairly big barb on the inlet manifold somewhere that has been blanked off (maybe with a bolt in the hose or something?) you just need to hook this directly to the booster.

I'm not being a sh!t, but considering the job you have ahead of you, hooking up the brakes is the wasy bit.

I have a LWB NT body sitting in my backyard that had been fitted with a booster. From what I can tell, the main hole has been enlarged with a hole saw and four 12mm holes have been drilled around. I don't know what else has to be done. I bought it as a bare shell. Can post a pic if that helps.

I run a remote booster mounted on the other side of the firewall. Just plumbed this into the front brake line and works just fine.

bazooka- Try_me already has a 1.3 firewall and cowl, and a rusty 1.0 firewall and cowl, so to my mind the easist thing to do is to go with the whole 1.3 firewall and then just bolt 1.3 stuff in.

I don't know anything about the different firewalls because I haven't pulled my 1.3 apart yet. I assumed they were the same !!!!
Here's pics. Outside and inside.

yeh thats what i think might be easy as i dont really want to convert the whole fire wall not needed i guess but yeh asked around and if i do change fire wall i will need to change plates etc

my mechanic has already told me not to as if they suspect a number job down here then the whole thing becomes a void and u cant get rego so for me right now looks like going to have to cut and drill

what exactly do i need for set up

j-top paj
when are u thnking of stripping ur one out as i would like parts  also going to need to brake set up i got the booster all i need it the rest if ur not using the parts

Try_Me,

You haven't spoken to an engineer yet have you?

Remember you are trying to reg a car with an engine conversion. (4K) It's not up to a mechanic to pass it, it is up to an engineer.

Why are you trying to fit boosted brakes? boosted brakes don't improve stopping power, they only reduce pedal effort. If you have been instructed to fit boosted brakes, then the same person instructing you will tell you how they want it done.

It's more complicated than just cutting a bigger hole in the firewall and bolting in a boosted unit. The only converted one I have seen was done by welding the whole 1.3 doubling plate in (that's the double thickness section.) this ensured the alignment of everything was right. There are changes to the pedal box etc.

There is no point doing this and cutting up a clean 1.3 firewall to do it, you'll have to cut the rest of it out to get the rust out anyway.

The plate swap is a non issue. It's just a panel repair effectively.

The big issue is why you are currently trying to put boosted brakes into a firewall made of rust.

Sorry If I sound harsh, I don't mean to, you just need to be careful to only do a job once and not do something you later regret- there are lots of cars that go to the tip as unfinished projects because they weren't approached properly.

find an engineer and talk to him, it may take a couple of weeks for him to get to you, but just Persevere.

i have just fitted boosted breaks to a 1L using a 1.3L fire wall, all the work was carried out after talking to the engineer and him comming around and looking at the car. he has to make a record of the numbers etc...prepare a report and send it to you. only then can you start on the hard work, he will outline exactly how he wants it done in writing. i would then document everything that you do, and if you have any questions talk to the engineer not the web wheelers.
