Higher amp alternator on SBC

Well I just finished fitting a new alternator to the chev. It is an 108amp job normally for a 6 cylinder EF/EL Falcon. Only some very minor mods needed and I used the original brackets.
Only mods needed are :-
1. Drill out the rear lug on the bottom of the alt so the bolt can slide through.
2. Change serpentine pulley for v belt pulley off old alt. I used the new split washer and the large domed washer off the old alt as a spacer to clear the casing.
3. Space the alt back slightly so the pulleys are in line.
4. Slightly tweak the top bracket up to line up with the top mounting lug.
5. Plug the warning lamp wire onto the 'S' lug.
6. The new alt top lug isn't threaded, so you will need a bolt long enough to go through and put a nut on the back.

like either of these two pics.....
one uses tha std holden V8 bracket ( slightly modded )
while the other uses the std chev brackets .... again slightly modded
The Alt is a 85 amp Bosch

I'm using the standard chev brackets like you, but the alternator is different i has the fan enclosed in the housing not outside.
While on the subject, how did you get all your pulleys to line up mine look a bit like the pic below and also are the belts regular A section or different. You may have read about my probs on Monday night thinking might be using the wrong belts, cos they are now still sometimes slipping a bit.

I used the "aircon" size belts for Alt,pwr str,& the airpump.... I Think they call em "B" size belts.
As for angle problem you have ... I had the same prob initally. I used a fine tuning tool to massage the chev bracket into place.... its called a rubber mallet !!.
Bolt it up firmly ( not tight ), and "tap" the bracket around to line up better.... some sever taps were required !
It lines up perfect now !

Ahh the mighty adjuster

I will have to do some experimenting with belts by the sounds of it, dunno exactly what size you mean by "aircon" sized. I'm assuming you mean airconditioning pump belt, but from what motor? I know it isn't a B Section belt cos they are larger than i'm already using.
How deep in the crank pulley do yours sit? mine sit right down in the alt pulley but seem a little high on the crank.

pics !!!!!
As you can see the "alignment" isnt so brilliant on the Saden airpump but the others are good !
The belts are "13A....... " in size and sit high in the crank pulley, my thoughts were that theyd wear in eventually !!!!!!!!!

IFrom what I can see in the pic they are sitting the same as mine, spose i'll see how they it goes.
