as the subject states my mate is looking at fitting 37 x 12.5 mtr's to his inverted rimed hilux wheels. the only risk we can see is it may have a slightly greater tendency to pop the bead.....
The tyres and rims are only gonna be used strictly off road so no worries about turning corners on the highway at 110kmh!
Any opinions and experiences are welcomed

I would have thought they would hold the bead better with a thinner rim. But they will be fine.

ok really thinner rim's hold tighter..... why do you think that thou? i thought being narrower might have made it easier to collapse in on itself....
i've been telling my mate not to be such a girl and just fit em up but i didn't want it to go wrong.

I ran mine on a 1450kg rig at 5-7psi and never lost a bead on the 37s and 15x8s. As said above thinner the rim better it will hold.

I had my 37" MTR's on 15x10 good on road but drove like shit offroad, the wall stayed to upright n wouldnt bag, had them refitted to 15x8 n they work much better, Had my GQ ute with them on at 160km on the highway n it was a little floaty but that was with 5 link front n A frame rear, with the drop arms in it now n still the A frame it doesnt float as bad but thats more the big lift

well i run a 35 x 12.5 on a 15x8 rim and the minimum recmended is 8.5
the narrower the rim the better for holding the bead in my opinion.
unless your talking about BFG muddies
i got 285x75x16 on the jabber and never had a dramas with beads yet and ive dropped down to well below 10psi and driven hard without any dramas

I've got 37s on 10 inch rims and it is quite hard to get the tyres to seat on the bigger rims when fitting them. They fit to 8 inch rims fine, they just sit a bit taller so the tread is a bit rounded, which won't matter offroad when they are aired down.

ok thats excellent to hear, no complaints about them popping off very easy.
I'll tell my mate that, the next issue will be fitting them under his hilux! He's currently got 36 inch centipedes and they just dont work that great in my opinion, he doesn't mind them but he's not the one guiding him everywhere. They just seem too stiff in the sidewall for his featherweight lux. plus in my opinion centipedes just aren't quite suited to dry rocky tracks in SEQLD....

I think you will find that the MTR and the Centipede are the same size. So fitting them should not be a problem
