Hi - needs some heads up on choice of tyre

Have been doing losts of reading and it doesn't make the choice any easier. I couldn't find many reports on the Mickey T's but found heaps on the BFG.
Im a weekend 4wder and use the GQ as a daily driver to get to work etc and do some longer trips to camping spots so thought an AT would be the go. Im happy to spend $$ on the right tyre.

Those of you who have BFG AT or Mickey T AT Z or FC II, could you give me your opinion and good or bad experiences.

Many thanks for helping me make the right choice

Hi.. I have the BFG muds, but there the same caseing as the AT's...
not really happy with them... cut 2 sidewalls on my second outing.... besides that there ok. I think MT's have better sidewalls though.

If your planning to do some rocky terrain, air down a fair bit or drive over lost of sticks ect, id probably get the MT's

It doesn't help with your decision.. but for the $$$$$ you can't go past MTR's for a Daily Driver/Play thing.

Mine just don't look like they'll ever wear out and they pwn in the hard stuff, especially around the 9 psi range ;)

If you want an A/T....have a close look at the FC2.

best halfway aggresive tyre on the market / deep tread, heaps good K's

tyres

If the author of this post wanted to know about muddies, he would have said so....
Or are you implying that MTR's are a great A/T.......I think U may have missed the point.... :D

thanks for all who have replied, i thought i would have had a lot more input as its a issue everyone faces with theirby's - replacing tyres.

What is "x eleventy" ??

Anyway - think i have decided on MT FCII. Have found a local dealer that will supply the wty 80000 km and provide FREE rotate and balance for the life of the tyre. I dont think i will get much better than that - also was charging less for the rim and tyre package (5 x sunnies 15x 8 and four tyres - 1 s/hand for spare)

Anyone want to buy 5 x b/stone 604 Desert duelers?
1 brand new - never been on the road 12mm tread
2 6 mm
2 5mm

all on nissan branded 15 x 7 sunnies in VGC

i will post in the for sale area with some pics

thanks for the advice and keep it coming if you wish

I think they are the best compromise tyre you can get and I find mine no where near as noisy as some Mud Terrains I've had in the past, evidentally they will be noisier than an AT but not by much imo - besides the factory rattles and squeeks cover that up anyways  .

My train of thought for suggesting MTR's was as follows:

Normally when folks start four wheel driving you get a taste for the more difficult stuff, this leads to you normally pushing the car a little further - I know I did. Eventually you come to a number of different hurdles that lead to "...oh well I need this on the car to be able to do this", and one of those hurdles will be overcome with the 'more agressive' tyre solution.

The chap in question is putting 33" tyres onto a SWB GQ, the standard tyre on a shorty is a 31" ? correct me if I'm wrong. A 33" tyres is by no means small and lets not forget a few years ago was considered to be close to XXXXXXTREME (NB: many x's denote hardcore'ness). If you are putting 33's on for more clearance then you are most likely driving things that would require a more aggresive pattern anyway.

I think if you went MTR's straight up over any All Terrain Tyres you would be extremely happy with the choice. I daily drive mine everywhere on 35's and don't have any issues with them at all.

+ they look hot ...so.. :D
