sizing throttle body's

Post by shakes »

This isnt really 4x4 tech but it's tech none the less. On my datsun 1600 project I'm starting to toss up idea's on induction.

The idea of using 4x Fuel Injected moto throttle body's came up, and is basically winning for the simple reason of something a little different and to learn alot along the way.... because I figure these will need to be sized correctly as it'd be pretty easy to over/undersize something for such a small motor (1.8ltr's)

But I cant find is any good recomendations for book's or general reading on not only sizing the TB's and injectors to suit the motor but also working out runner length's and the like for the manifold.

Anyone here able to give me some good info or point me in the right direction?

Cheers

There is a lot of useful info and help on efi conversions on the Megasquirt site

http://www.megasquirt.info/ and also on the megasquirt forums at http://www.msefi.com

It is not the most tidily arranged site but if you keep digging you usually find what you are looking for. There are sections on hardware design which might help you and there are some pretty knowledgeable types on the forum. You might even find someone who has done a Datsun 1600 project.

Rotchester injector site RC injectors has a heap of useful calculators for HP and sizing injectors, as for the throttle body go about 10 percent bigger than stock, going to large will only mean that the car wont have any improvement in performance from 3/4 to full throttle and it may be sensitive to drive at light throttle as small throttle movements effect the air flow a lot relative to the engine size.

thanks for the site. I understand the basic's...I dont understand the math's behind it. ie. engine cfm vs runner volume/length vs TB sizing.
