Got a little question about the old girl its a 1990 Roza off the back of the power steering unit is a what looks like a vacum hose its now going into the air in take box does anyone know what the function of this hose is and if its meant to go somewhere else. Seems to have fixed the problems with the fuel effiency. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ITs the idle up for the power steering.

One pipe ( should be two ) goes to a point before the throttle and the
other after the throttle.

When you use the powersteering and the engine is at idle it can cause
a stall, so this valve allows a little more air to the engine and thus
stops it stalling. Mine was blocked at the throttle body end and it would
sometimes stall when the powersteering was used hard at idle.

But I am not certain it would affect your economy significantly....

It shouldn't affect economy because a MAP sensor is used for the EFI- not a MAF.

As Mighty Mouse said - two pipes. One goes to the black "box" on top of the engine, the other I'm not sure (but it is after the throttle butterfly to increase idle speed.)
