Wiring Instrument cluster VSS etc

As my sig states I am installing a M13A (Current Jimny motor) in the Sierra.

I am sorting out (or at least trying to) the wiring. Due to the EFI etc it is a lot more complex than the old Sierra wiring.

The Jimny ran VSS so this will need to be connected now to the Sierra. There are a few posts (yes I search..........I search a lot) about the need to canibalise a Vitara cluster when installing an EFI G16B.

What I am trying to find out is:

What parts do I actually need?

Do I need to find a Jimny cluster or will a Vit do?

Could I just swap the entire rear of the cluster (from plate back) and fit it to the Sierra dash?

Who has done this before and may be able to help if other questions come up?

and I have to ask it.......................................anyone a decent auto sparky in the ACT wanting to help with a project?

I know that the G13BB uses the same VSS signal as the vitara, so I have no reason to believe that the M 13 will be any different.

Just swap the speedo drive unit over from the vitara. This unscrews out of the cluster with 2 phillips screws. The AZrockcrawler site shows swapping the VSS into a sierra speedo drive, I can't see any point as this looks 1000 times more fiddly.

All sierra clusters from NT on have the holes in them to accept the contacts for the VSS. One end just has a flying lead off the to the VSS lead on the computer, the other end gets 12V I think and can be pulled off the cluster.

Greg's manicurists car runs fine with the vitara VSS - in his case is also influences torque converter lockup and shift points in the auto with no problems.

Sorry, I don't have photos.

Steve.
