Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hey just wondering what steel ppl use for there lower arms.
will be running gq bushes.
im guessing it would need to be atleast 10mm wall tube.
wat can i expect to pay per m.
any help appreciated.

Use solid 4140 hex bar
38mm is about $50 -$60 a metre over here in WA, might be cheaper in the East.

im using hollowbar, it is 12mm wall, cant exactly remember the od of it, but wirks a treat, i didnt bend any links since building them, and thats a nissan trials and tuff truck 07, so im happy with that,

mick, it aint cheap but the schedule 240 is the best for lowers. 12.7mm wall 42.2mm seamless pipe i believe. wont bend.

any idea where to get it from in brizzy i went to sims and they just looked at me funny when i said i wanted a 12mm wall pipe.

sims have it..... ask for hollow bar not the above..

what vehicle is it going on?
for sierras i use 8mm wall hollow bar..
for heavier i use the 12mm hollow bar
for the mud i used solid 42mm for the rear links (1350mm long) and 12mm hollow bar for the front.

cheers mark, ps never bent it.i had scrape marks in the front and rear ,some around 4mm deep and nothing bent..

i used 12mm wall DOM for my lowers on my old lux, bent them on the first shake down run. Ill never use tube for lowers ever again it bends far to easy. I welded 12mm flat bar fins on top of them and that stopped them from bending any further.

I would go the heavy walled RHS route next time, much more rigid than tube and a lot cheaper than DOM.

yeha pipe seems to bend pretty easy when used as lowers id suggest solid hex for lowers and 12mm wall for uppers as its a bit cheaper

Same with my old zook bent front and rear . I have the 40x40x4mm and havnt bent it yet on the patrol. Best part is it only cost around 15 bucks each

it will be used on a zook.
any ideas on price of the 12mm wall hollow bar.
do yous think im better off to go the rhs than teh tube for strenth.
im not a huge fan of the look of rhs links thats all.
i would of thought that solid bar would of bent easier than hollow. dont know why. when you used solid bar did you just notch the ends same as if you were using hollow.

Yeah i use rhs for my lower arms . Light weight and can park a truck on them! If you want some let me know......

went to a few places today and found some at metal land. was $68 plus gst a m does this sound about right. it was 40 od 20 id so 10 mm wall.

I bought my link metal for $60 dollars , Schedule 160 , with 21.2 ID , 6 metres long and tapped it 24 x 3 mm , I also used it for panhard rod on the front , that sounds a little dear , Cheers Paul.

I havnt even bought any yet let alone fitted and bent it
I have seen a few of the buggies running it.
I will be using on my Lux when I get to that stage but it is a while off yet.
