Hi there guys i was wondering if anyone has had any dramas with the balancing of 35x12.5x15 MAXXIS creepys as i have just purchased a set and they wouldnt balance up they were out buy up to 600 grams.
I am running them on 15x8 1" offset steel rims and i cant see any damage on them ie. buckling or anything so was wondering if anyone had any insight.
By the way am over the moon with there performance other than bit of the wobbles on road. Even in clay they stick and climb great.
Cheers Damo

My 38'sd balanced up well.. did wobble a bit if u left them parked for more than a wekk.. but once they got back "in round" they werent too bad at all..
but also had mates that had 35's and 37's on their patrols and could never get them balanced right

You can sometimes improve the balance (achieve a "less weight" needed figure) by rotating the tyre on the rim to achieve a better balance but I would assume the tyre shop tried that. You can also try different tyres on different rims as you may have a buckled rim, as suggested in previous post, and "the worst" tyre on that rim causing you to need 600grams which can be impossible to balance. If you get them as good as you can run the worst ones on the rear as less vibrations will be felt whilst driving.
Good luck!

exactly what Jonesy just said !!!
get friendly with a tyre joint , go there on a saturday , with bribes(alcohol works well) & play around with tyre/rim position !!!

Thanks guys . They didnt try rotating them or anything but i am good mates with the guys so will be back down there trying :
A.The wheels by themselves as they have had hard life
B.Rotating the tyres
C.Alternating them for better rim to tyre balance.
Also would it be worth putting in some of that balancing crap (cant remember the name) as it is rather exy and if i did can you use it more than once.
Thanx again Damo

That balancing "crap"
is a product that will work effectively if the tyre/wheel combo can be balanced. Too many people give up and blame it for not working, but as you have found out, even with traditional balancing methods, some are difficult to do and it is not a fault of the balancing method.
My suggestion is to get the tyres as "right as you can' with your mates balancing gear and remember how much weight each tyre needs. Then when you are sick of replacing the weights simply add the compound. It will then not be as expensive as numerous wheel balances and can be used over and over again as you re-new your tyres.
The main thing to remember is that balancing compounds will balance tyres that can be balanced.
Oh and if you decide to by some balancing compound be sure to check out the web page listed below.

i had this problem 3 years ago when i bought creepys.i posted several topics on the rim size issue.
after buy them and fitting them to 15 X 8s i had major balancing dramas.
i had truck tyre shops balance them with not success, i tried rotating them in driffernt positions on the rims.
finally when i discussed this issue with the suppler he told me "after i paid for them" Oh these tyres due to their extreme sidewall stiffness will crown heaverly when mounted on a 8 inch rim, the taller tyres ie 37+ have more height in the sidewall and are not an issue.
i could not run 10 rims in my front guards to i saddly got rid of them.
They were the best Bias tyre i had owned , but could not cope with the shaking down the blacktop.
Best of luck
Grant.

Wouldn't be worth that a new set of 15x10's in a steel rim should be under 80 90 bucks so price around $165 a rim it'd be cheaper to buy new rim's it'd think

maybe for jap trucks but i cant even find anyone who does 15x10 for rover and even the 15x8 offsets are well over the hundy up round 150 i think.
Spose i could by jap rims in 15x10 then cut centre out and fit the rover one to it probably cheaper.

Yeah creepy's just dont relly lend themselves to being balanced.
My set of 37 X 14.5 X 15's didnt like to be balanced. One of them was nearly a kilo out another 800g another half a kilo and another balanced with about 150g of lead.
I got balancing sand in all 5, stuff i got from pete at OPW.
I just put the best two on the front and be done with it. They dont have any wobbles really, and once they warm up and are in round there sweet.
Good luck
