The drivers side inner axle seal's leaking (has been for a while now

) & I was wondering how hard it is to change it?
Also, I know they recommend 80-90 gear oil for the front diff but can 85-140 gear oil be used?

Inner axel seals a peice of piss. just a pain in the ass to get to, you have to remove hub bearings and cv's etc.
Seal costs under 10 bucs, hilux ones are exactly the same too if the part number for a patrol isnt in stock (least the are in a gq)
Then it is pretty much like a rear main seal. Use a screw driver and a light tap on one side to get it out, tap new one bac in with correct sized socket and extension bar.
This is also a good time to replace whiper seals if they are stuffed.
Regrease the cv's while your at it as the diff oil has generally contaminated the grease. I also redid all my bearings with marine grease at the same time.

DO NOT fit the cheap hilux seals yes they will fit and most seal places will try to sell them to u but they are not full floating and will usually leak as gq axles seam to move further off center. and i buy the good ones for $6
