ran diff out of oil

didnt check the oil level of diffs, now the rear is clicking when rolling car back and forwards,,,,
is it to late to put oil in or is it to far gone?...... no servos sell diff oil and i dont want to drive it like it is( just heard the noise now....)

You must need to open and check all .. but while you do that .. run oil inmediately ..

servos usually sell manual trasmission oil or gear oil.. same thing, even engine oil is probably better than no oil to get you home!

Had a mate who ran old engine oil in his transfer, box and diffs just a old pootrol pritty sure it's still going. Is it sloshy

fill it up and check it eventually...itll be fine. but if its got a locker then pull it out and inspect asap and then fill it up.

Are you sure it's not a universal, your description of the noise makes me think I'd look there first. But you've probably already solved the mystery/problem by now....

Almost any oil will get you out of trouble, I have run Auto Trans in manuals etc.
Longer term the Hypoid needs Extreme Pressure oil due to the shearing nature of the hypoid.

found the problem.... rear wheel bearings, it did take 500ml of oil to find that out....lol... i took a pic on the phone but have no idea how to post it up. its a great pic to.....
didnt relise it was so easy to do, should of done it myself .

rear bearings are easy, but an absolute PRICK to get the retainer rings off....
