just wondering what oil i should be using in the tb45?
i have been using 20w50 gtx ever since i got it and the guy (original owner) has been using the same too.
but after i picked it up from the mechanic yesterday he asked what oil i have been using and thought i should be using 10w40 maybe?
i cant find my manual to check either.
its done 210k so i think the heavier oil should be ok for an older engine?
any thoughts?

Most of the reasoning for thinner oil is for greater economy, there is the odd exception like some Nissan performance engines of the mid to late 90's used a 5-30w oil due to very small top end lubrication ports for the valve gear. A lot of it relates to temperature and vehicle useage, I'd be inclined to use a thinner oil in winter to summer and if the vehicle was towing distances where oil temperatures may rise causing the oil to thin out I'd use a thicker oil to start with.

so the 20w50 should still be ok? i let it warm up for a few minutes at least before driving anywhere in the mornings etc...

is there much difference with the 10w40 to the 20w50? i mean as long as i let it warm up it shouldnt be a problem i think? :?
