Roof Rack / Basket / Pod

I'm tossing up between a mesh basket w/ bag or one of these plastic "pods" to throw on the roof. Need it to hold tent and sleeping gear only.

The pod would be easier at the "lid" is self supporting.

The basket would give me somewhere to throw firewood.

Either will be going on a set of Rhino Bars and be only put on for trips. (The bars stay on)

No gas / fuel / water / wheels going up there.

Anyone who owns either, all comments appreciated.

Thanx
Paul

I have a set of Rhino's and a home made basket for my disco, main advantage over a pod is you can fit odd shape items in it where as a pod may be watertight and more aerodynamic but if your not using it all the time doesnt really matter. I also have a rack bag to keep stuff dry.

yep same deal,

iv got a rhino roof basket, and then a canvas style roof bag. The bag fills about 2/3 of the basket, that way i can still put some water/firewood/whatever i want up there. semms to work really well for me.

the pods would be quite restrictive in that you can literally only fit those items that fit into the pod.

Try one of each, the long skinny pod and make a basket to suit the other side, best of both worlds. Works for me anyway....
