Am lengthening my GQ Shorty chassis by approx 10-12". Am l better off splicing a long wheel base chassis onto the original shorty chassis or splicing two sections into the shorty chassis (one either side)?
I got my hands on a couple of 15' straight sections of chassis rail for nix and l will be engineering the mod.

For what purpose are you doing this? To get more wheel base? more overhang on the rear? Some more information can help.

Im attempting this mod to gain more wheelbase. This is with the hope that it will keep the front wheels on the ground more of the time !!!

Im pretty sure u dont even need to touch the length of the chassis.
All that is done is relocating of shock mounts and other items...

i would just weld in some new coil mounts, mod some shock mounts and lengthen your upper and lower arms, much better than splicing in a new chassis length, and easier to engineer, just my opinion anyway, and i did it this way as well,

Yeah, thats the way l was originally planning to lengthen my wheelbase (move coil mounts and lengthen control arms/drive shaft), but an engineer suggested that he would pass a spliced chassis provided its welded correctly.
It would also help to maintain stock control arms if l can so it this way, which could be a bonus when and if l ever bend them as l can order off the shelf !

stock arms are to short in my honest opinion if you build em strong enough they will be fine, mine measure in at about 1050mm, and i havnt bent them yet,
