Hey guys, Ive owned my mk swb for a few years now and have decided to begin the mods. Shes got a home made snorkle, bullbar etc. She definately needs a lift and some softer suspension. What I would love to do is Dobinson springs, Snake racing extended shackles and Rhancho shocks with a set of 33's. What dramas will I run into with this set up and what will I need to do to the truck such as steering and brake lines. with these mods will I need to get it Engineered? Also on steep hills the carbie craps itself and stalls as well as blowing out thick black smoke. It definately needs a rebuild but will this solve the problem? Sorry for all the questions but Ive always owned zooks so my MK knowledge isnt up to speed. Cheers

2in suspension lift and nothing else and you will run 33's easy.

add a 2in body lift and you will clear 35's

No need to do a shackle lift or brake lines as they will all be fine. Only thing that will need an extension is the clutch booster line if you do a body lift.....

From memory you could run a 33in tyre on an MK with stock suspension.......

it all depends on wether or not you have flares, i had them and had to have the car on the jack to fit a 33 on and even then it was touching, two and two is a shit hot set up in my eyes. Thats what I got more or less and no flares they got the chop! but just depends on what you want.
What you need to mod when you do a body lift, Is radiator shroud, steer nuckle, and you have to bend your transfer case lever forward or cut a v out or you can't get it in low range.
This is what i have had to do and it works great :D and make sure you take your front sway bar off. Flexes heaps better

You can actually run 36" (Q78's) Swampers on an MK with 2" body & guard cut ;)

Yeah I thought that was the case.......

At the end of the day the amount of clearance under the guards is huge if you are prepare to fire up the 4in grinder...

The bigger the tyre with the least amount of lift = stable car.

I had 1in springs and 2in body and ran a 35in tyre without taking the grinder out.....

Cheers for the reply guys. The Car has flares but not for long! To keep costs down I guess a bodylift and springs would be the way to go. What about engineering though? Will it need to be engineered? Who's selling bodylift kits out there?

ebay for the body lift........

keep the flares for 33's makes it legal....

2in spring doesn't need engineer but body lift does....
