I have often had the metal grinding noise too. Front guards, rear guards, rear bar etc.
I thought that was normal though...

if brake piston seized on them the tyre wouldnt rotate when jacked up to check after its happen, i wouldnt of thought that as im not using the brakes at all when it happens .and you can hoist the car up and do the same runing time on a hoist and it does the same thing you hear a grind noise then the front passenger tyre locks up once you stop the car it gone??????? ,the brakes pads are only 3 months old had no trouble with then at all .

did these come with the viscous transfer?? if so could it be the oil heating up and then locking up part of the output?
I'm not familiar with these in the slightest so I might be wayy off too?

If its only locks on when the car is running i'd bet the vacum booster atmo valve is firked. Pull the vacum supplt hose off with the booster with the car running as see if it still locks up.
My 86rrc did the same thing and im not sure why but only the left front would drag...
good luck
