Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I've noticed that my front driveshaft is interfering with the trans x member and i'd like to space my trans x member down by 25mm using aluminium blocks. The only drama i've run into is that the gear box mount seems to have fixed bolts (i havn't got the cross member off yet). How would i go about securing the trans to the crossmember once i have put the spacer in?

Make the spacers from a long steel nut the length you want to space the transfer. You may have to cut the existing bolts so they are half the length of the new long nuts. Tighten long nuts up onto the existing (shortened maybe) bolts. Fit crossmember. Fit new bolts that become tight before they bottom out on existing bolts. I would also locktite or safety wire the new nuts/bolts to be sure they can't come undone. The longer the new nuts can be the better cause that will give the greatest engagement between nut n bolts.....

i had this problem with my 75 and just ended up turning the drive shaft around so the slip yoke was at the gear box end and thier was a heap of clearance to the cross member, just check which way the shaft is in first

Just wondering if you use a CV in your front DS ( t-case side ) don't help ?

Are you saying the gearbox has studs in it, and you put nuts on after fitting the cross member? Try removing the studs and either replace with longer ones, or use longer bolts with the same thread.

I vaguely recall someone saying there being a drama with turning the drive shaft around.

For the other questions

There is a rubberised mount between the trans and the x member, there are fixed studs on the mount

i won't be affecting the angle of the trans/motor as i'm spacing the x member down only.
