Hi,
My rangie seems to have that same back lash thing you get when break traction but when im slowing to a stop?
Any ideas on whats causing this, only started to do it today and havent been off road since last weekend.
84 5 speed.
Was hopeing t go wheelin this sunday, so dose it sound like im likely to break something?
Any advice appreciated, Tim.

Got any info on who did that for you and a rough price?
My current problem is deffinately the hand brake, when coming to a slow stop it shudders and will come to stop without brake, if going slow enough. Then rocks back and forth as if you put the handbrake on at slow speed.
But i like the idea of no backlash.

Tony at Davis Performance Landys in Annangrove 02 9679 1978, Sydney did it for me while they had the transfer out. I'm really not sure what the cost for that was as it was mixed in on the bill with a thousand other things. I'm not sure what they actually did, but I assumed they had reset the lash in the centre diff - its probably worth checking directly with them.

Common problem if the handbrake is adjusted too close.
If you adjusted it recently, just back it off. If the problem has recently occurred but the brake has not been adjusted, then you may have some dirt/mud in there that needs cleaning out.

Cleaned out the hand brake today, was full of black tacky crud. Cleaned off the crud and gave both the shoes and the drum a hit with some fine sand paper.
All good now.
