This should really be a poll, but anyhow......

I just bought a 130 dual cab body cheap off ebay, and im considering using the roof and rear cab section on my 110. I really really like the look but i need someone to talk me out of it.

Pros

I like the look
Easy to do - weekend max
Quieter in cab (from what i'm told)
Cheap
Lighter (not much)

Cons
Very Impractical for a tourer/weekend camping
More expensive to insure (not that i'd probley tell them)
Need to move my 6X9s and 12 stacker
Need to make a lower bulkhead.
wife told me not to do it???

IMHO, the tray will be too short to be practical, or overhang too far, won't it? I'd already like another foot in my 130 tray, AND less overhang than it already has. Other than that, why WOULD you do it? Do you NEED a ute?
Sorry to sound cynical, I love my 130, but it's still a trade-off, halfway between a great 4x4 and a great ute, but not really both, if that makes sense.

would love to talk you out of it..... but I really like the look. You can by a canvas cover for the back section (like what was fitted to SWB Ute series Lasy Rovers) I know a guy that went to cape york in his SWB Ute with one of those canvas covers. was just him and his wife. they said they had heaps of room.

Anyway good luck deciding, but I have always wanted to do it to a defender.

I saw heaps of 110 DCutes in the UK when I was there (it is a factory option there), and thought they looked great - a bit impractical. If I were to do it (and I have been thinking about it) - I would add 10" to the chassis (as was done to make the 120" utes) to give a decent tray size.

Mate I reckon it looks great.

I'm cutting down my County soon but using the existing roof etc so it will have more of a square shape at the back. I am going to try to keep the windows in the roof also so it should look pretty good.

Sorry Mrs 'e' - but I vote for the dual cab.

spose i can always change it back if i dont like it.............

i should be picking the 130 body up late this week.

Ben, the idea is not practical at all, just looks good. i've a had 110 ute before, and i used it so little i turned it into a 2 door wagon. I have no use what so ever for a ute. Thats why i asked this mob to try and talk me out of it. No such luck.

Not so bad with a soft top on the back

My club president just converted his 85 110 SW too double cab, as far as I know it was a reasonably painless exercise, built a ali box in the rear with lid too carry all supplies etc. Only pics I could find
