How to replace a 22r with a 2.7? Is it easy or what?

Hi guys, i'm researching my next conversion which will hopefully be putting a 2.7L into my earlier '93 4x4 extracab to replace the 2.4p boat anchor for power & economies sake. Oh, i'll be changing to diesel diffs prior to this to reduce rpm at 100kmh for some extra ecomonomy aswell.

Can anyone tell me what i'll need to make the conversion go off without any nasty surprises?

I'm wondering about things like: Clutch, clutch actuation, flywheel, engine mounts, bellhousing compatability, radiator hoses, clearence issues, radiator fan, anything else that mite be an isssue............

Thanks, Shaun.

P.s. my last conversion was a wrx motor into my brumby so i'm thinking this toyota conversion should be a walk in the park provided i do some homework first.

My 2.4 carby engine has ported head, stage 2 cam, extractors & 2.5 inch exhaust & still makes a lowsy 85rwhp.

To top that off, it consumes 15L/100km!!! I deserve more power for that amount of fuel consumption........... or better comsumption for that amount of power............... either way, its crap!!

Do you guys think the 2.7 is a good conservative approach? Maybe with similar breathing mods to avoid going forced induction & having insurance issues?

The 2.7L donks would have to go good with some extra breathing mods wouldnt they? Anyone got dyno figures?

Any feedback would be great, cheers, Shaun.

Few small mods and you to can get 1400hp from a 3RZ-FE :D

economy wont change much, they are shaped like bricks and weigh about the same!!

but power will definately be way up. BB's 2.7 made 100hp at the wheel with muddies on, and heaps of torque, from way down low!! a lot is to do with the exhaust, put a 2 - 2 1/4" flowmaster muffler on it, it makes a lot of difference down low.

PM sent.

So is there anyone here doing breathing mods to their 2.7L donks?

What sort of power are they making?

I thought 100rwhp was a little down on what i expected although big tires mita sapped it a bit.
