Alternator

Alternator
Having a problem with my wiring. It is a 1984 2L 2.4 Diesel Hilux the ute was originaly a Petrol Ute. Everything works fine except for the Alternator it won't charge the battery , I changed the alternator still no difference. The Battery Light stays on & also the Oil Light. Am i missing a wire does there need to be a wire directly to the battery from the alternator? I am thinking maybe I missed a wire and the the 2 lights on the dash have something to do with it.
Normally there would be a reasonably fat wire running from the alternator's main lug to the battery. Sometimes this is via the same cable as the starter motor for some of the distance.
What wires are actually coming from the alternator?
I would expect (usually) to see two smaller wires in plug form and one larger wire with a ring lug on the end, sitting on a terminal that looks like a bolt sticking out.
I would guess the oil light is a separate issue, but the battery light is related to the alternator problem.

This is not legal advice.
One wire from the Alternator Terminal that goes to the Fuse Box then just the two wires that go to the top of the alternator with plug on it.chimpboy wrote:Normally there would be a reasonably fat wire running from the alternator's main lug to the battery.
