Ok, for a trail rig, i really have no need for a 5th gear i think?

anyway, i have a 4 speed here now, just how much weaked is a petrol 4 speed compared to a G52

or do i save up the extra $'s and track down a G52?

What 4 speed do you have? I`m pretty sure the G40 and the G52 are closely the same except 5th gear.Don`t no about the ratios .The G52`s first gear ratio is 3.928:1 if thats any help.

might be wrong but i thinks the 4speed is a stronger box!

for trail rig go the 4 speed. im still using the 4 speed with 308, can handle if not thrashing but need an overdrive for highway!!

find out which 4 speed it is. the G40 is quite similar in construction to the G52 and plenty strong enough for a trail box especially if you're putting lower ratio diffs and/or crawler gears behind it - you're only likely to bust a gearbox when the gearing further down the line is inadequate (eg 38's with stock gears)

bubs go and talk to mark, he will convert it to 5spd for fark all. Providing it is the right box.
