I had to put mine in the tray. Damn filter is huge!

If you wanted to have a smallish one under the bonnet I'd say it wouldn't be too hard. But to fit a full size you would need to move some stuff around.

it's only for starting? Use the original for accessories and drop in an Odyssey for starting. The smallest one they sell with start a lux. You can fit it anywhere. Yes, the motorcycle sized one is what I am talkig about. The next size up starts my 1HZ in winter no worries.

dont wanna put it in the tray, it'll take up valuable firewood space, under the tray seems like just asking for trouble, is there any other way, a smaller filter, or something???????????

TJM do a battery tray that sits in the pass side front and give you a kit that helps you modify the air cleaner to sit a bit further back....(My old work sold them thats where i got mine from)

Did it in my old 93 hilux or you could look around for a different air box maybe a commo one and make that fit in a different spot to give you enough room to fit the tray in

Surely you can find space under the bonnet without moving anything for an Odyssey, they are tiny. Make a tray from aluminium checkerplate.

have ya seen under the bonnet of these things, the filter is huge, there is no room without moving something, even for a small batterya friend of mine has the 2.5 diesel triton, you could get 4 batteries in there with no drama, but not the hilux.

i think you can use a surf air box which will give you more room i have seen stock surf with duel batteries in them

I've got the smaller airbox for sale, that free's up the space behind the off side headlight allowing you to get another battery in. Going for $50, sold the 4Runner it was intended for, sitting around gathering dust now in Melbounre. PM me for details if interested

Mate i wouldnt worry bout it for now. Noticed on some other posts you have heaps of other jobs to do first. Mate just buy the biggest battery you can get to fit on your tray, cca wise.
I did 2 trips round oz in my lux on 1 battery, never had a drama.
Only reason i ended up running 2 is cause Metcalf introdused it to his winch challenge rule book.
Most times when your camping, theres other trucks anyway, so worst case carry jumper leads.

yeah mate, i got a list as long as my arm, but i got the kit sitting there, so may as well put it in, i was talking to a bloke yesterday about buying an air box from a hilux surf, apparently smaller, leaving room for the battery on the passenger side, dunno if it will need any mods or if it'll slip str8 on.

Well that im not 100% sure on but cant imagine to be that much of a mod.
Actually remember vaguley using a bundy airbox on one of my trucks.
