Hey All,
Picked up a 140/150L LR tank up for next to nothing.
Couple of questions.
1. Where is the fuel pump located on the 2.8TD (4M40's)
2. Are there any forseeable problems in fitting the tank, which is from a NH model, to an NK.
3. The vehicle which it came from was petrol, where my pajero, is diesel. Given that I drain and clean the tank out, does this represent a problem?

a little bit of petrol shouldnt really be a problem. just make sure its not too muchHotAe92 wrote:

I fitted an NL petrol 150 litre long range tank (second hand) into my NJ 2.8td without any problems so in short you shouldn't have any problems for full exlaination read on . The pickup unit and sender unit from my original tank fitted into the long range tank, I think most after market tanks are made to fit the original pickup and sender units. The orginal fuel tanks for petrol and diesel are the same. The pickup units are different between petrol and diesel, petrol have the fuel pump as part of the pickup (goes inside the tank) and diesel is just a pickup tube/filter and return tube (diesel fuel pump is part of the injector pump on the motor).
As far as an NH tank goes originally same as NJ,NK,NL but in after market long range, a tank built for the models with the factory body lift (3.5/2.8) may be higher and not fit into models without factory body lift (3.0/2.5). A after market tank built for a NH should fit into a factory body lift model (3.5/2.8) just has wasted space above the tank (the same as the orginal tank have a look at yours about 40mm of space above the tank).

Pajero GLX 2.8td 255/85/16 BFG muds 265/75/16 BFG AT's, articulator, 2.5inch lift, ball joint flip, rear sway bar disconnect and lots of mods.

In regards to the wasted space, I will mount it up for now and see how it sits, but I will probably look at ways of welding and drilling some plates on the mounts to take advantage of the body lift.

The Fuel tank bolts up from underneath so you have to get the mounts moved on your long range tank to made it sit higher, but is would only be a gain of 30mm and only a problem for harder tracks were clearance is an issue (i put in my standard tank for harder stuff).
