Hi all,
I am putting in a dual battery system in my NH 2.5TD Paj. I have been told that the TJM trays are the go for the new battery. If anyone has any advice on this or cheaper/better alternatives in the Ipswich QLD area it would be appreciated. Getting an auto sparky mate to do all the work but he wants me too source the tray. I am pretty sure it will fit just behind the original battery not too sure. I also have to remove an old vacuum caravan brake system too make room so if anyone is after one of these, make me an offer.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
Burty

Piranha make a tray too. I have an 88 2.5tdi import and I had to remove the headlight washer resevoir to put the tray in.You can just get an N70 package Deep Cycle battery into the spot. the only mod i had to do to the tray was to grind an oval slot in one of the mounts to let it go round one of the hoses from the A/C condenser. I sourced my battery from Wynnum Battery Service & it cost about $156. I also have a 70amp isolator from Super Cheap and I have a battery switch that enables me to jump-start myself without leads

Hey Burty,
I was chatting to the guy at the local battery world shop a few months ago and I asked him whether these were still available as I remembered them from when i was a mechanic about 10 years ago.
He agreed they were a good idea but suffered failures apparently so were discontinued.
I also remember they were a high cost for the small capacity the aux side was. Still they might have improved them this time round if they are back.
BTW, yeah I have the pirahna tray in mine, good and solid, lower mounts bolt to factory bolt holes and then you drill 2 holes in the firewall crease for the top mount. annoying to change the fuel filter afterwards if you have an intercooler though, it has to be removed to get to it.
was about $80 though from memory a few years ago.

I'm installing a dual battery setup in the near future, so I started this weekend by making room for the second battery. I made up my own tray, so I could fit 2 big batteries in.
I'll post pics in the next week or so.....
Btw it's a triton.
