In another formum I asekd about reinforcing the rear top coil mounts in my GU cab chassis. Somone said this had been discussed here - and mentioned "Big Red"!!! I've had a scan and can't find any discussion.
Anyway - does anyone have nay ideas on reinforcing the top rear plate for the cab cab chassis? Or any suggestions as to who could do this wok in adelaide. Thanks for your help.

hi greg and welcome to the forum.
On my ute i have welded a piece of 50x6mm flat from one top spring mount to the other, i intend to weld two other pieces of flat from the crossmember in front of the spring mounts, over the top of the cross brace [the 50x6 flat] and on to the crossmember behind the spring mounts .
If you can stop them from bending up it should stop them from tearing the chassis.

thanks guys

Just the information I needed - thanks. Now I'm armed with a bit more info I can start talking with some local chassis "experts" to get the job done. I wouldn't attempt that type of job myself!
Great site - I usually lurk on the yahoo Patrol forum; but will definitely keep a close eye on this also. Thanks again

Greg have a posting in the earlier page and a pic attached too of my plate over the top(pictures here below if you want them). Is 12-13 mm and bolted into place right the width of the spring mounts.
On the right hand side you will need to place the brake line pipes differently. Should not bend in a hurry now.
