Hey

Just been doin the bushes in my 85 luxxy and got to the front shackles (at rear of front leafs)

n the bloody shackle is stuck in the bushes, which r stuck in the chassis.

What a bugger of a thing.

Any easy ways to get it out.

Thought of burning it out but dont have an oxy.

I welded the pin to the shackle so i could roll it round to see if it would loosen up but its still as tight as all hell.

Any idea greats appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

do you mean the pin or the shackle?

a leaf spring has a fixed end (pin) and a swinging end (shackle)

Have you got the nut off?

If you have the nut off just a big fucking hammer and a punch (another bolt slightly smaller)

im pretty sure hes talking shackles and has welded the pin of the shackle to the flat plate bit.. basically wen i was doing mine after the previous owners prolonged the work, it was also in the same vote as yours.

basically soak in inok or wd tons b4 you even start, try and get a flat screwdriver into the bush, lever it open so theres as gap to squirt in the wd40.

failing this, go to bunning and pick your self up a mapp gas, i brought the bottle and basic head for 40 smackeroos. Then just melt the bush or til its goes softish then youll get it out.

Its actually not the bush or shackle pin, but its the steel sleeve thats on the outside of the bush, it would be full of rust and causing you greef, remember this i bet it is that thats the prob. any more dramas and pm me m8, happy to help. ;)

put the nut back on the bolt n went nuts with the hammer, got the drivers side out.

Had to take off exhaust to get to passenger side, but its all done now, so i can start putting it back together.....with lots of grease LOL

Don't forget to make sure there's no scalely rust in there and any area thats a bit abrasive over time will chew the bush out.
