If you were to build a paj, what mods would you do. I mean, if you were to do it all over again, what would you do differently? If anything.
I start my build up of my new one on monday and am interested in your ideas just in case I have overlooked anything..

Very good question..................
If I was starting again I would try and snaffle a NL GLX or Escape auto with the 3.5 V6 SOHC it will have all the electrics minus all the plastic crap. The 3.5 SOHC is easier to work on and puts out good power.
2" body lift, 2.5" suspension lift, 35"s and convert to 4.90's, sliders, bullbar, snorkel, winch, spotties, dual batteries, cargo barrier, armour, etc.
Front ARB locker when released and either find a 3.5 V6 rear factory locker centre or convert to a 3.0 V6 rear end with an ARB locker and have HD axles made up. I would also seriously look into lower t/case gears.
As the NL was the last of the Gen 2 it was pretty much sorted with the super beefy rear end, bigger t/case, good power, comfort, factory body lift etc.

I would go along the same lines as frank. adding in though a bigger fuel tank after the body lift, softer springs or same as stock. don't forget the custom raised 2.5t hayman reese.

Don't worry it's from some Jap website
But I have heard of a 3.5 DOHC V6 swb that is supercharged running 35"s up your neck of the woods. Goes like the clappers apparently.
I'd say they maybe a 16" tyre as the NL had larger brakes so went to the bigger rim.

thats a pic of the one i was trying to find for you grant. i think its german and they are like 35 X 12.5 i think. with a 2" bodylift. will keep looking for the site.

Their is a 3.0L supercharged wagon up here... Sold my old paj to his best mate. When it ran, (on occasion), it went well. I only ever saw it with the bonnet up.
Keen to see the specs on that NL shorty you posted frank. BFG make 35's for 16" rims now, i think anyway.

Frank,
I am going to do what I did on my last paj and that was the 50mm suspension lift, wind up the front, cut the bumpstops, 50mm body lift but hopefully squeeze some 35's under it. You mention a 60mm suspension lift on yours, what is different? Is any one running 35's (in aust) legally and successfully. I mean, without srubbing the guards and without 3inches of body lift?
I just want to do it right the first time........
Still have not chosen my tyres yet!!! I want something that will use the stock 16x7 inch alloys. Any suggestions?
Inspiration is up.. will be ready in a couple weeks now.

Grant when I did the suspension lift the rear came up 60mm with the new coils and I wound the front up 65mm with the shortened bumpstops. Everything has settled and I will be working on some coil spring spacers to bring the rear up a tad say 15-20mm due to the drawers and all the crap I carry.
I ran 33x12.5x15 with no rubbing on the rear and VERY little on the front (only if the front suspension compressed really hard when dropping into a hole).
After the 50mm body lift I run 34x11.5x15" Simex JT-2's with no rubbing on the rear and again VERY little on the front. These tyres measure out at 34.6" diameter. Yours has a factory 30mm body lift over mine so will comfortable run 35"s with a 2" s/l and 2" b/l.
As for tyres it really depends on the terrain you drive but I wouldn't go any wider than an 11.5" on the factory alloy. I'm wrapped with the JT-2's but I wouldn't mount them on a 7" rim as they measure 11.9" wide.
Down here in Vic an aggressive mud tyre is the go like a Simex or a Swamper but it maybe different for you guys up north.
I also think a 35" is the limit with the IFS but the 3.5 V6 rear would be capable of handling 38"s all day long.

Also Grant if your considering shocks Tough Dog have just released the 9 stage adjustable units obviously to compete with the Rancho 9000X.
These are sold mainly through Opposite Lock if I remember correctly Tough Dog did a 2" suspension kit for the Paj and it actually included 2" longer travel shocks to match the raised coil springs
Make sure to post pics of the build up dude............

back about five years (possibly more) or so there were a few short wheelbase paj's running around my area with 35's on them... They looked awesome...
I used to wheel with some mates who had some big trucks.. Big short Paj's, big short Rocky, some big zooks, big v8 Bundy and several big hiluxes...
Still got some good video n pics of our trips....

Ok the build up progress report....
Things are a little slower than anticipated, the other halfs new bathroom comes first (it was the only way she would let me buy the new toy). Installed the springs and wound up the front, removed the plastic side steps, fitted ARB bullbar, IPF headlight and loom upgrade, IPF spotties, new TX4400 60ch UHF, TV/DVD/CD player and ABS on/off switch.
This weekend should see the body lift and a set of CSA assault alloys and 285/75/16 Silverstones fitted. I have decided to use these as my every day wheels but will have a set of swampers or simexs for the weekend work...
Still havent sourced a rear locker yet, well that isnt outrageously dear, but the front locker (arb) is ordered and is not too far away.
Sill bars yet to be made and swaybar disconnect still needed.
Will try to post pics when I get my digicam working.
Did I forget anything?

Grant have you called Shane ??
I spoke to him the other night and he has a factory locker with 4.90 ratio and he has a factory compressor as well. Perfect to run your 35"s just have to source a front 4.90 to match.
He is willing to sell them no worries and he's in Brissy.
