I have a 75 series (1HZ non turbo) which im having problems with the gearbox its making alot of clunking sounds expecially when I go into low range, its sounds like something is loose inside the box or transfer case...
, Ive checked all the oils thinking it mite be low and everything was ok, anyone had any simmilar problems like this

Also who is the best in melbourne to do rebuilds on 4x4 gearbox's and transfer cases???

and more important how much would I be looking at for a rebuild??

hi i think the problem you have got is in the transfer does it make a clunk if you shift gears agressivly if so, i think the spline on the gear on the output for your gearbox to your transfer is worn. it is pretty common. if so you can get a gear with a longer spline for about $250 for a quick fix .i got mine from gympie 4wd

the gear is wider and you take out the pto gear for it to fit but your better off installing that with a new spline and the problem will be fixed....splines come aftermarket too....start by dropping oils and looking for chunkies...

yes i rebuilt my hole transfer and gearbox when i did mine but if you are straped for cash you can get away with fitting the gear and getting another 50000 km out of it
