so i was fiddling with my MQ today, as i often do, and i lifted the gearstick boot up and noticed that the little stem that comes out from the gearbox, just where the stick goes in, appears to have mysteriously dissapeared, leaving just a hole. i was lead to believe that this stem is used to put gear oil in, but have not gotten around to using it to know for sure.

so firstly, is this what its for?

2ndly, is it bad that is has gone?

and 3rdly, is it going to affect anything in not having it there?

engine is SD33, gearbox is just standard i assume....

It's a breather tube which has a vent plug in the end. It's not an oil filler. I wouldn't leave it off as it will allow dirt into the gearbox.

put a t peice in the box run a hose from the transfer to the t peice then another hose from the t peice up to the engine bay so it doesnt suck water in.
