there just used either end of a tail shaft then added one more so simple may have to get it balanced but could be fixed any where

Just my 2c - I haven't done this myself but I have seen the results...
If you are going to run 2 uni's back to back, try and make sure that the movement between the gearbox and the case is minimised. The issue is not so much the length of the shaft as the misalignment heavily side loading the output shaft of the gearbox when the box is trying to go one way the case is going the other. 4Play built "the cradle" that locked both gearbox and transfer together when the jackshaft came down to two unis.
Don't weld two yokes together - I would recommend machining the spigot off of one and rebating it so the spigot of the other yoke is a tight fit. This should minimise vibration caused by the shaft.
However, if you have issues with jackshaft length, the only "real" way to fix it is with an OTT kicker - this eliminates all possible alignment issues.
Suzuki would have run a shorter jackshaft if they could IMHO so they could run more rear driveshaft... but they are all the same length across all models, gove or take 3/4". That tells me something about the shoftest shaft you can get away with without problems.
Steve.

yes thats what i have in my ute. im about to make another one for my brothers ute and its going to be shorter than mine. This will allow the motor to be freather back inthe engine bay and then we can use an engine fan.
