Just a quick one what sort of cost and amount of time is involved in repairing or getting a new water pump. Mines shagged and pouring water everywhere.

Should be able to get one from Repco for around $100.

While you're at it, it's usually a good idea to do the timing belt as well.

It's not a huge or difficult job. Remove radiator, unbolt power steering and tie it up, off to one side and away you go.

Go genuine as I was recently quoted $110. Some of the aftermarket ones are made in places like India and are absolute rubbish.

I fitted an aftermarket one to the wife's old Excel and it lasted 30000km before the bearing went. The impellor design on both aftermarket ones I fitted was inferior to the original item (we only went aftermarket the second time becuase we were selling it within two weeks! )

P.S. Applause water pump is NOT identical so don't fall for that one.
