am i overdoing it ? have a 90 model 80 series 4.0lt petrol, want to change to diesel is this a straightforward transplant,or will it be cheaper to sell my petrol 80 and buy a diesel 80 series?
what is a fair price to pay for a 1hz diesel engine complete fan to flywheel used with under 300000 kms?
cheers

first question one must ask is why you want to go diesel?

then i'd probably say it'd be easier to find a diesel 80. factory job, no head f#$%s less work, easily insurable, and holds the retail better than a modified car.

but again, why do you want to go diesel?

it was some time ago, but maybe still helps http://www.ozsigns.com/fj80tohzj80/engi ... index.html

1-its not really straight forward, but can be done.

2-i reckon standard diesel 80s are going really cheap now days, but then again, so does yours.

3-about 2 to 3g for a complete 1hz + atleast 2g in misc.

lol, converting mine to diesel was the best thing i have done (+ turbo later on)...
driving the 3f was just so painfull, it was slow, there was no such thing as fuel economy, and ignition, carby, etc was just so lame.
Now i have no water/electrics problems, no carby starving/stalling, got HEAPS of low down torque, just to name a few advantages... :D :D, so maybe he is in the same boat as me 3 years ago...

Ditto !

Diesel ( mmm let me correct .. Turbo Diesel ) it's the best thing that you can get in a real off road car .. ( rig )

Back to the thread, if you can sell your gasser and get a factory diesel it's your best bet .. cos swap involves some heavy work and detailed dealing as run the tach and get the signal for AC .. that come from the coil in gassers and from the IP in diesels ...

all can be solve for sure .. but take time, money and job ..

Easiest way that I know is buy a wrecked diesel complete and swap the whole lot over.
