HELP!! Problem heating HJ61

I have a 89 HJ61 RHD 12ht and I have went through the whole cooling system from a new rad(re-cored) to fan cluch, thermostat(I tried 2 new ones 195 and 180, flushed system , timing checked, cooling system checked for exahust gases, valves adj. injectors checked, cooling system vac'd of all air, no coolant in the oil, no oil in the coolant ,cleaned the A.C condenser, all is perfect!! I still have a problem with heating, I am in Saskatchewan Canada it does get hot here in the summer but the temp of the engine will run at 210-220 deg f pulling itself down the highway on a 30 deg c day, I could make it over heat at will!! Exhuast temp is between 600-800 deg f at cruising and if I push it i will see 1200 deg F . , pulling a 2500lb boat is out of the question!! (It is sad my dodge mini van can tow more than my cruiser!!!!)The truck is an auto also, which I have added a tranny cooler to the sytem to help keep that safer.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THE COOLING SYSTEM IS JUST ADAQUATE AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM OR IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS KIND OF PROBLEM AND FIGURED IT OUT BECAUSE I CAN'T!!! THANKS

Are you running large driving lights or a bug screen over the front grill to block airflow through to your radiator?
To be picky you havent mentioned the water pump, whats it like?
Running larger tyres that are putting excess strain on the drivetrain?

Whats is your fuel consumtion like? Blowing excessive black smoke? Too rich = overheating.

I Have the exact same truck as you
the 60 series cooling systems are huge, i thought i had the same problems as you not so long ago. But it seemed my factory temperature guage was faulty.
I bought a VDO water temperature gauge, so now i have that and the factory gauge, my thermostat opens at 82 Deg C. Doesnt matter how hard i push it up a hill, towing a trailer, air-con on middle of a hot summer day, Temp will not go past around 87 deg C. I also have big arse lightforce XGT spotlights and insect screen infront of the radiator and it still doesnt get hot!
I would get the guages tested!

Thanks for all the resonses, I have the front end wide open, I am runnng 255/85/16, Autometer Mechanical Gauge and double checked with a infared thermometer, I visually checked the water pump and it looks perfect, doesn't leak and is tight no excess movement, I get @ 20 mpg on the highway and under normal driving no black smoke but lots under load, but the EGT doesn't refect over fueling from talking to diesel shops in town, it doesn't get hot in stop and go just under a constant load going down the highway or pushing in the mud. Does anyone else have an EGT on there truck? I would love to know where a stock 12HT runs at 2000 rmp on flat surface this should be @ 100 kph. and how hot they can get it when they give there trucks all they have. Thanks

Hi dude ..
Thing to check.
Your Pyro probe it's before turbo ?
how much boost ?
Did you check your fan at cold and at normal operative temp ?
I found that the 60 series cooling sysem are not enought .. the 80 series are wide and looks more enought .. anycase it's not the theme here I run a 4 row core rad .. and it's barely enought when I'm push really hard my engine at 14PSI ..
And it's quite simple .. the 60 cooling system are not prepared to disipate all heat from producing much power .. much power I mean more than 15 PSI @ 3k rpm ..
I usually run 1000 or at max 1100 F pre turbo ( at exhaust manifold ) between 2200 - 2800 rpm pushing from 10 to 14 PSI ..
If I push hard ( more boost ) I didn't get more EGT .. and sure not black smoke but the engine ( water ) temp start raising ..

Hi Tapage, I am running the EGT post turbo, 8ps boost , Fan turns free until @ 200 deg f then kicks in, I am going to change to Eelctric fans for low speed aplications when pushing hard, and I have thought about a larger rad but I don't know what I can get to fit mine is also a 4 core. How much boost do you run?

You knw the max pre turbo temps that you can run aare 1250 F .. ?
All in all I'm running 14 PSI @ 2800 rpm ( when I really need to push it hard ) and I'm still planing run a extra water tank conected to the return line from factory rad .. alum tank in case to allow more cooland in the cooling system .. not done yet but in plans ..
which oil are you using ?

sounds like you got some pretty serious issues, flogging my cruiser through the soft sand with the trailer on makes the temp move a little nothing to look twice at though. If i was you ide sell it and get something else.
