Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Bought my old Pajero with 33x12.5x15 BFG MT's, but they are wearing pretty low now. Want to replace with something more 50/50 Road/Offroad as I use it on the road every day (concerned with fuel consumption!) getting to work but want to keep the chunky off road look. Was going to go with BFG AT's but thought you lot might have some good ideas.
Also - where am I likely to get the best deals?

BFG A/Ts suck in/on everything except sand - my own experience.

Mate has BFG M/Ts on his 4b4 van and is happy with them on and off road.+ they have a reputation for lasting a lot of k's.

Look phat too

Take a look at the Mickey Thompson MTZs. I just got a set and am very happy with them and had BFG MTs prior. MTZs are a lot quieter on the road and still loko reasonably aggressive.

We're using the new Pro Comp MT Xtremes. They have only been out in the last cpl of months.
I've put 33's on mine and very impressed with their "on road" performance and equally their off road performance.
They are very quiet.
Performance on wet road is quite outstanding for a mud terrain biased tyre.
Superb in the mud and snow, (which we got to try out).

Just had a thought - my spare is a very unused BFG MT - still got the rubber nubbins on it - reckon a tyre shop would work out some kind of exchange if I was buying 5 tyres?!

are more a mud tyre like the bfg mud you coul also try the mickey

Except on wet roads, slick tar compounds esp on roundabouts (no aggregate in the mix).

BFG MT's are reported to be one of the best overall it seems (of those tyres mentioned above in this topic).

My opionion is stick with the bfg mt's, I'm on my 3rd set and get around 65'000km out fo them. I do a lot of 4 wheelin but also my daily driver on the black stuff.I have had bfg all terrian's to and get the same k's out of them and are no better in the wet.Also had kelly mts and only got about 40'000kms from them and there crap in the wet.

I'm beginning to think this might be the way forward - esp as I've got an unused spare!

I hav just purchased a set of Mickey T's ATZ's they should be go on this weekend but were i am the Local RFS use these tyres in 31's on all fleet vehicles apart from the firetrucks and they like them

go the fc 2s , you will get 80 to 90 000 ks out of them, got a set on a 100 series ,done 60 000 ks on them and should get at least another 20 out of them........................

I to am on my 3rd set of bfg muddies, hav been so happy with them over the years, wouldnt run another tyre for what you are looking to do.
It is a tough choice i know but i reckon stick with what works. Cheers Denny

I have the Maxxis Trepadors and they are awsome. Quite on road and grip like hell off.

Have just purchased Mickey T's MTX's. For an A/T, they are exceptional on the black stuff; very quiet, good grip in the wet. Had a run at Mt Selma/Mt Matlock the other weekend & performed well in the slushy stuff. Thought I was going to have an issue on one track, as other mates were running minimum of muds, but got through without any problems.

I also have MTR's & find them very good, but I only use them for my off road activities. Have found them to be quite good on the 'black stuff', but it all depends on how far u go with your off road ventures. I have found them to be very good everywhere offroad, except in mud. BTW, wouldnt touch BFG A/T's, overpriced /over rated & crap on wet bitumen roads, but just my opinion.
