Its not a hard job at all, just when you get your hands on them you need the slip ring and the spacer to go with the drive hub, it spaces the drive hub out from the housing and holds it in place

Don't bother swapping until you break the auto hubs. Then do it.

If you want manual hubs just pull out the ratchet mechanism in the auto hubs.

Auto becomes freewheel. Mine started playing up and i did this a while ago. Works great. Can then drive around in 4 Low on hard surfaces. (with hubs in Auto position which is now unlocked)

Yes
To LOCK turn to lock position
To UNLOCK turn to auto position

takes less than half an hour and the ratchet mechanism just pry's out with a big screwdriver.

if you go anywhere without a wheel brace, your a farking c0ck that will be sitting beside your vehicle when it has a flat tyre waving someone else who is sensible enought to carry a factory issue peice of recovry equipment.
It takes 2 seconds per wheel and your fingers don't get dirty, Don't be a lazy prick, where's the hard part? :?

i carry 2 wheelbraces minimum all the time. one under the seat (cross type) and one or two in the back pockets on the sides.

Am i the only one on Outer's who has done this to GU hubs.?

When GU auto hubs play up its only that stupid ratchet mechanism. Once it's pulled out (and left on the shed bench or in the bin) , they are now Manual hubs.
