Embarking on Hilux 3rd install and was wondering if it would be wise to also change now to toy birfs so when I can afford it will get some l/p/sfiels as I only want to get 1 new set of axles.....
my rangie has the seperate stub shaft and cv...the old type...

anyone know roughly how much 2nd hand standard birfs sell for.

I would run the toy CVs so that you dont have to get new axles if you decide to go this way. I know guys that pick them up for less than $50 each.

Biggest expence in doing this is the 30 spline drive flanges and the spindle mods that you have to do.

do you reckon the birfs would be as strong as the countys ?

what is the diameter of the stub shaft on the birf and what sort of clearance should there be between the spindle and shaft

called a few wreckers today and most sell them for around the $100 mark...with the axle...
i assume it is a bastard to remove or they would sell them seperately or is it that the cv usually takes the shaft out when it breaks.....

I plan on running jacmac's front longside axle and will see if the hilux shortside axle fits as you have mentioned that the landruiser one might fit... or are they shorter...

Hilux is shorter.

My jac mac axles are built and hes just got to send them (as soon as he gets back from holidays i guess) so i will measure them up ans see how close the cruza axle is.

To get the CVs off the axle you got to use a big hammer.
