ok lets get the ball rolling....
[/quote]Can you tell me why you'd need to run SPOA to clear 31" tyres?
well 2 inch spring lift + 2 inch body lift = 4 inch lift total.... mostly recomended by you guys on here for running 31's correct me if im wrong.
i think thats right from my calcs... ok
so spring over = 4.5 to 5 inches if im not wrong..
2 inch springs + spring under = shopping trolley flex..
spring over = good flex..
u should have just asked me in the first place jim...
anytime i can help mate...

LOL its a laugh a minute in here. No u can't do SPOA blah blah blah, i want to run 31 inch tyes so ppl can laugh at me blah blah blah. Come on guys take ur skirts off and man up and get some 33s atleast. 31 inch tyres, no one thinks big of you!!!!

Dan,
31's can be made to work on a car with NO lift. 2" suspension or 2" body they will also work.
Oh yeah, who told you that you can't get SPUA to flex?
I'm not against SPOA totally, however there is a lot of work to make it work well.
Dan, do you have a row of lights above your roof and over sized aerials that aren't hooked up to anything?

hey 31"s are bigger than mine lol try 27"s of pure grip!

um you may want to sit down but a of the SPUA cars in the Suzi Club in Vic are running 34" - 36" tyres so before you go spouting off at the mouth about something you don't know take a moment and have a bit of a look

nah jim just got shorts on and a singlet instead of a skirt and blouse..

anything can be made to "work"
how well is the big question..
spring over may be a bit more work in the short term, but it will definietly perform better..

um you were saying "take ur skirts off and man up and get some 33s atleast" and I said we are running bigger than that. So not sure how I can do the calcs next time. Maybe you should.
Yes 34-36 SPUA and no munch munch of the guards because we trim them so we don't hit them at full flex. lots easier to trim some metal than mess around with steering geometry and getting a SPOA to work properly. Also you seem to assume a lot about SPUA not working, I take it you are from NSW perhaps. Have you ever driven in Victoria in our conditions?
We aren't saying SPOA is bad, we are saying that bad SPOA are very easy to do, good SPOA take alot of time, effort and $$$ to do properly.

Yeah mate the threads about 31 inch tyres clearing, i m saying why bother with 31s. Bit slow on the uptake there mate, i m not really that interested about what tyre the vic club is running, but thanks all the same.

I have 31's on a sagged 2'' and 2" extended shackles(only lifts an inch!) and it doesn't rub much at all!
With rears up front they can flex VERY nicely!
Got any pics of your rig?

i have 5 inch lift no body lift with spua and its amazing how close my baby tyres get to the guards - no swaybar- removed 2 leafs in rear.

yeah and I'm saying that a bunch of people aren't bothering with 31s, in fact are running much bigger than your skirt wearing comment, who happen to be in the Vic club. Try reading a little slower perhaps it will sink in then.

I;m not going to buy in to this argument, but instead of throwing stones at each other, lets see danman's amazing tech. Calling other members who have SPUA or 31's skirt wearers isnt helping. So here we go danman, tell us why, in some proper tech, SPOA is so good. For the record, i am spoa, run bigger than 31's (swampers too, not just BFG's or simillar) and have no issue either way between SPUA or SPOA. Both can be made flexy, and both work. Lets try explaining it without the attitude now.
Layto....

Good for the vic ppl running over 31s, the trophies are in the mail. And a new skirt is on the way for you too so u don't feel left out.

ok some actual facts:
last flex comp, i came in 3rd with 712 on a 30degree ramp.
my (old) zook used to run custom spring packs (sierra main leaf, 2 other long ones from both suzuki and sigma)
long travel airshocks (monroe ones, not bling buggy type ones)
custom front and rear shock mounts and shocks never affected travel.
i was beaten by a suzuki (pat murray on here) with drop shackles, 3/4 arse end and ranchos(maybe), he bet me by about 70 points IIRC
and Red_Zooks hilux diffed sprung over running hilux leaves front and rear, moved hanger mounts and ranchos, phil bet me by 20 or so points
there was several suzukis in the pack that were running standard leaves in SPOA form, and shocks that did not limit travel and all failed miserably.
as Layton said, i like SPOA if done correctly eg: tim's redzook hardtop, but for the conditions i drive and the tracks we have (in tassie) i dont see the point in spending all that time, effort and money into changing it, especially for the legality/engineering side of things.
questions?
oh and show some piccies.

see thats all im saying..
you put the same spring pack in sprung under and sprung over format and the sprung over car will have more wheel travel..
im not telling u guys wat to run here youve obviously all had enough experience of your own..
but for the extra effort it takes to do a spring over its well worth it..
id rather have the same total lift height with flat springs rather than 2-3 inch lifted ones..
and thats my $500 dollars worth..
any questions in Dans tutorial class
i can get some power piont slides up if anyone is keen..

what you said then is very different to what you have been saying in your other posts. It's those little extra bits of info that make a big difference
