Why Sierra?

Im just wondering why people are spending so much money on doing up their zooks when they could put all the money they spent and buy a car thats a bit more beefy? Im not bagging any1 as i own a zook n their great cars but im just curious as to why people do them up. A wrangler is basically a zook but bigger, more powerful and has all the luxuries (powersteering for eg).

I personally have a zook because i cant afford anything bigger or more powerful at the moment, but i do have plans to do it up too.

why a patrol/hilux/cruiser/commodore?

personal choice.

cheap to tackle obsticals with the same mods then on a bigger car.

It's a whole different style of driving.

A Patrol/Cruiser/etc is all about keeping wheels on the ground through big flexy suspension. It's about building a truck that's ultra capable that at the end of the day requires little more than a point-and-squirt attitude.

Wheeling a Zook is all about driver skill. Picking lines, riding out lifting a wheel or two, knowing when to hit the accelerator and when to crawl.

My Zook is stock as a rock at the moment on 28in HTs and I outdrive my boss (Dual locked Rangie on 33in MTRs) and workmate (100 Series 4in lift 33in BFG muds).

also suzy's are light, e.g. get stuck in hole, get a mate to sit on the opposite corner!
All the parts are light which makes it easy to work on too

Because for the price of a standard jeep you'd get two modded sierra

Well i guess that answered my question haha. Lol wasnt expecting so many responses in an hour or so...
I understand where u all coming from though. I just thought that most people pull a large boat (if they got the moneys) and would buy a larger car to pull it and so forth, but i guess u guys just use them for play in the bush.

Be everyone drive a jeep, be SOMEONE drive a samurai. Glenn Wakefield

Why do others drive what they do? I love zooks, Ive had 4 of them its a way of life.
I see your point about why spend money on a zook but really you shell out atleast twice as much to buy a "beefier" (heavier) vehicle but if your serious about 4wding you WILL modify it. Now you spend possibly twice as much on parts then you reach that point where your chasing your tail upgrading xxxx then yyyy breaks instead, more expensive to fix.
You will probly have this with a zook but its alot cheaper and I think alot more fun as a small light vehicle is quite cabable when mildly modified.
Plus its a zook.

why a sierra?because for about a quarter of the price of my lux it is more capable, cheaper to maintain, fix, repair, mod etc and a hell of a lot of fun.they look hot and it travels about as good as mynon turbo lux and for half the fuel money. jeeps look hott, always will but you will know it when it comes time for spares.

have u ever driven a zook???

why drag a 10ton pos up a ledge or drag it though a hole when u can take a 1.5ton!

mate what a stupid question...

4wding isnt about luxary.. if u want luxuary go buy a heep and pretend to be cooll and not wheel as if you damage it, it will cost a gazilion $$$ to fix.

just my 22c

Umm it aint a stupid question really cuz alot of people drive them on road too not just for off road and as every1 knows their ride onroad is as bout as comfortable as having ur nuts kicked in.

And to do with luxuray, i ment powersteering, a engine that has a bit of power stuff like that. Those are a luxuray to me

Because my ute cost me $200 and i spent about $1000 on it thats including new 2nd hand motor and brand new 235/75s it had sagged suspension.

I have driven up and back from Brisbane to Rockhampton 8 times now and towed a trailer on my last journey and drive it every day to work. Doesnt have big top speed but will sit on 100 comfortably and can still overtake when needed.

Offroad they are 1000% better, the bumps arent as noticable.

Parts are cheap and everywhere, some people will give stuff away. Easy to work on, cheap on fuel, will fit into tight places, suzukis are light, get lots of street cred, will keep points on your licence (unless u dont hav a front bumper  ) will out drive locked rigs ;) do I need to go on?

OH and about the powersteering.... um just get bigger biceps

disability pension = zook is only affordable choice for serious off road.
The price to buy, price to modify, and lightness of all parts = my abbility to do my own work on it.
EG. I can't lift over a 31" tyre on a rim by myself.
I can pick up entire gearbox with 1 hand

Why do I drive a zook?

Well the first time I made the mistake of going out 4wding by myself ( no other vehicles, just me and my bro in the zook ute) I got bogged. We tried to get the ute out for hours until I had an idea.... why not just lift it out? I'm 6'4" 120kg, and my bro 's 6'2" 100kg, so with a log under the front axle as a lever and my bro lifting up, and me at the rear end lifting the tray we managed to get the zook out of the wheel ruts and onto the centre ridge.....filled the rut with the log and drove out :D

The only problem is we looked like 2 muddy gorillas in a GoKart on the way home

Go the zook!

I,ve had mine for nearly 14 years (92model) , Ive been to Cape york , Alice springs ,& lots of other places !!
Love it heaps !!
you can make the suspension comfortable , you can fit power steering , you dont need power , when you have gearing !!

so your question is stupid !! :D IMHO !!

Why a zook, because they are fun..
I have owned a GU patrol and heavily modded Zuk at the same time .. the GU was a great car to drive, you just got in it and away you went, it was nice in the bush and it was boring, it had no personality.

The Zuk was an adventure every time you got in it (anyone else who had driven in my old black Zuk would say the same)..

Recently I owned a stock softop sierra bog stock suspension, 235's and a 1.6.. it was like having a road legal go-cart it was just a giggle every single time you drove it, it was fun as in the bush and in it's realitivly stock form was very very durable as well. I also owned a dual cab turbo diesal dudlux .. it is just another yota, boring an accountants tax return party, I still have it as it is more practicl for my current need's as I cant find a decent LWB zuk. sure I would add power steering and a bigger motor and bigger tyres etc .. but essential fun of it stays the same, you are still connected to the car not insulated from it.
