Is anyone using a thermo fan control switch that doesnt need to be in the lower hose, ie one of the thermistor type that goes between the radiator tubes?
Im looking for a thermo control switch that is water proof, preferably solid state, and doesnt require that I open the cooling system to install it.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Daryl

you can get one from a refrigeration wholesaler.
They are electronic, can have waterproof probes, you can mount the control unit inside the cab, you can get 12v ones, the control displays the temperature, the temp can be adjusted over a wide range of temps [-99 to 200 C ] , the differential [temperature difference between cut in and cut out] can be adjusted from 0 to 100.
you would probably have to have the controller operate a relay [like a spotlight one] as i think they are only rated at 4 or 5 amps.
price from $70.00 upwards.

i looked around the wreckers to get mine. i think it depends on your motor, what holes and how big they are. i had to remove a thermo-vacuum switch in the water pump jacket to put in mine. You just need to know your hole and thread size,it cost me $10.

Mine has a sensor that goes thru the radiator fins,It was cheaper than the davies craig ones ,I picked it up at American auto parts, homebush.
Had it for about two years never had a problem.
For my apllication the sensor could have been half the length ,Zook rad tiny, It controls a rover discovery thermo.
