Hi Guys
well i am starting to turbo my TD42 GQ with a GT28 turbo, High mount T3 Manifold and adapter.
I have got myself a 3L TD GQ air box for the old girl, but looking at it, it seem that if i put it where the headlight is, that its too high up and the bonnet will hit the top? can someone send me some pics of how they got theirs in? and if they kept the dual batteries under the bonnet?

I'm hoping this is the airbox you are talking about.....? This is one installed in mine.
Had to grind a small notch out of the cross member:

cam, look at toms one, its in the right holes but sits nowhere as low as berettas,
beretta, did you just bolt it straight in or did you lower the mounts some how,
also tom didnt need to chop the radiator support

Mine is bolted into the right holes, but the flange sits about 10mm out from the guard, so theres a small gap, whereas the original one was flush to the guard. I haven't alterted anything (other than the rad support) just pushed it into place and bolted it up.

Its a tight fit if you've got a big second battery tray in there, I ground a bit of of the lip on the tray as well to fit it in.

Thanks a bundle mate, my biggest concern was the bonnet hitting it when i close it down. This will be perfect for my TD conversion now. With the gap between the body and the air cleaner i have already worked that one out, PVC pipe is going in though the hole in the guard, get a bit that just fits inside the flange on the air box and connect the other end to the snorkel, make for a good waterproof fit then for the snorkel. Looking forward to seeing how the turbo goes on the old gal

i installed one into my GQ as well, bolted straight in,
but where the flange misses the inne guard by 10mm, i trimmed to flange so i just had straight pipe, and i think it was around the 90mm mark od, i found some nice rubber hose that was a tight fit over but got it on and clamped it, but the safari snorkel end is slightly smaller around the 76mm mark, so the how was a bit loose, i used heavy duty clamp and wound it down tight, no leaks,
i also had an ARB battry tray for my auxillary, and it was no where near fitting in, i ended up moving the tray towards the fire wall by 40mm, and this worked a treat, need to drill a couple of holes, and also reshape the inner guard to accept the washer bottle, back in,

I had to temp. take my battery cradle to fit in, but bolted straight in after that! The problem I had was the connection to the snokel. I turned down a piece of 3.5" S/S steam pipe to 3.25" so it slide straight into filter with silcone. Than I just hose clamped a straight 3.25" silcone hose connection between that & the snokel. Works great no leaks (tested in dirty murky water last sunday!!!) Seems to let the engine rev harder & breath easier

. Snokel seems loulder(sucking noises!!) Next :- bonnet cutting time for intercooler & scoop!!!
