Just seen this on another forum. I reckon they look cool! Not real chunky for a mud terrain but.

Seems they'll be released in Sept in the US.....not sure about Oz but.....Ryano might fill us in??
This brand new tire from BFG contains compounds for three surface conditions- dry handling, wet handling and snow handling - under the BFG brand’s Multi-Grip Tread Technology banner. The compounds are positioned side-by-side across the gripping surface of the tire.
The BFG Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 light truck tire is designed for rock climbing and other rugged applications.
The tire contains BFG’s Krawler TEK technology, consisting of aggressive sidewall lugs, cut- and chip-resistant sidewall compounds, and sidewall cords that are up to 33 percent stronger than the previous Mud-Terrain T/A KM tire. These advancements allow more bite and sidewall protection, along with increased strength and resistance to bruising caused by rocks and rough trails.

Fark me they look like a krawler. If they are anything like the last type BFG's I would stay well away from them for a road tyre. When I worked at fourbys we got a fair few back with major balance issues.

Looks a bit like the bf crawler. I wounder what they have done to stop shit getting stuck in the bead though.

I like it almost enought to make me not get my 4th set of Claws.

Though i did say almost.

Available up to 42" tall/20" rim in the US. That's the size Pewe was running on the JK on UA.

hehe, my last set of BFGs (bout 4 years ago now) were like that.......Bob Jane joked about charging me by the kg for balancing them.

Yeh they look a lot like the Krawler but with a few more cuts or sipes in the treadblocks.
Are they supposed to be replacing the current BFG M/T or are they just a newer version of the Krawler?

Nope, I believe they are a replacement for the MT

If they're a straight-up replacement for the M/T they'll have to come in smaller sizes.
I'll give 'em a look - I'm due for some new treads.

They have much less void than a Krawler, I vote they will be fine.

They have gone away from the "bead protector" of the old style to overcome the bead leak issue.

It'll also be interesting to see what the noise and vibration levels will be like with them, not to mention the lateral traction.

BFG should get good initial sales for the new 'look'......but, long term, I think they have a massive FAIL on their hands.....

They are based on the Krawler Design and if they are anything like the Krawler in performance then i think this will be one of the best all round tyres ever made.

Yeah, I've just ordered a new set of BFG M/T's and have to wait a couple of weeks for them. I'm glad I've done it now, don't like playing guinea pig with this sort of thing.

Cheers
Corry

shame that it will be 9/08 before most common user friendly sizes come out..
I'll be up for hoops long before then... I'll wait for reviews from people not interested in bling looks..

they have a 315/75/16 which equals a 34.6x12.4 which might do a few people, but yer, spetember 08 is a long way away.

Go with the MTZ's... if you like em - keep em, if you dont, flog them with good tread for good bux, and try the others.

Even if they are out in 9/08 I'd probably wait till after xmas to see what peoples reactions to them offroad, wear rate, and by then would have found someone with a set and gone for a wheel too to see for myself.
