Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I am currently having a disagreement with my old man about which way water flows through a motor. I think it goes from the thermostat down through the block then out the bottom back to the radiator. He says is goes the other way.

on a side note, would anyone recommend someone in the southside brisbane area to fix a corroded pipe on the *i think* return to the radiator where the rubber hose clamps onto. Its currently leaking like a sive as its corroded right through the pipe up close to the block from previous owners not running additive in the Radiator.
