rear battery starter motor query

in my new car (84 diesel lux) ill have the 2 accessory batteries under the tray at the back. i would like to run a control panel in the glovebox or behind the passenger seat in a special box.

main question is;
will it be too much current draw running the starter from in the back of the cab? last thing i want is to not be able to start the car.

the alt. will be getting upgraded (120amp) as soon as i have the time and another will be put in when i have time for the brackets (for the winch mainly).

will needing 2 metres of cable screw me over?

thanx

Evan

You should be able to do it as long as you use VERY thick cable, new commodores have the battery in the boot and don’t have any problems so you should be right.

One question, WHY/

Cheers.

cause i can... i like to keep engine bays to a minimum, and i like all electrics in easy reach incase of problems and i hate getting out of the car to fix shit in water. just think its cleaner and gets alittle more weight out the back aswell.

oh and itll be getting highmount pushed back as far as possible too. radiator is out and intercooler pipes will most likely come out through there.

50mm/sq welding cable would be plenty :twisted:
