Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi,

I am new to all this only having had my 4wd for about a year now. I have a 95 dual cab DLX with the 2600 petty engine. Have been on a few 4wd trips, mainly to double island point and over to fraser for a week (the ol' girl did surprisingly well - even over indian head with a newb driver). I am in need for new tyres and want some clarification before I waste my money. Currently the setup is 16"x 6" wheels with 205/80 r16's.
What wheels are compatible with the rodeo inset (I have had a look and am i correct in saying the Navara / Hilux are ok but the landcruiser are different?). If the landcruiser has a different inset can I still use em?
2nd, All six stud swheels will fit onto the rodeo?
Lastly, I am looking to go for 31" and width depending on what is available second hand (thank you ebay) so that I don't need to do any lifting. Is all this correct? I am not that wealthy but I need both bigger and wider tyres because the only trouble I have had has been riding on the sand due to ride height and crappy 205's digging into soft sand.

Can only speak on behalf of the 98 onwards but I am hazarding a guess that there is not too much difference. Now for the confusing stuff!

If you want to go 31's from your standard 205's you will probably have to go a wider rim to start with. For example if you go with a 31 in a BFG, the minimum rim size is 7" the max is 9".

If money is a factor go 15" rather than 16" as they are cheaper for both the rim and the tyre. Acording then to the old ROH Wheels gude that I can no longer find on their web site, the Rodeo 4 Cylinder in a 15 x 7 has a 7 positive offset. This corresponds to the IFS LUX, Pajero, Jackaroo, Navara.

If you did go 16", then the same guide indicates that you need a 16 x 7 with a 7 positive offset. This is the same I beleive as the IFS Hiluxes, Navaras, Jackaroos.

Re your second question, the 6 stud hub has what is called a 139.7 PCD which is the same as the Luxes, Land Cruisers, Pajero's Navaras and Patols. So any 6 stud wheel with a 139.7 PCD measurement should fit on the hub.

Re Landcruiser offset... I am running 16 x 8 landcruiser rims on my 98 Rodeo with no probs but I have it lifted and have done some guard work.

When my truck was stock standard I was running 15X7 with BFG 31" all terrains perfectly. I think I was using Kings rims (had a red and green stripe on the out side). These will give you an extra 1" of lift over your 205's (31 vs 29").

I have the same ute in the 2.8 diesel.
Currently running 245/75/16 Cooper STT's on 16x7 Sunraysia type navara offset rims.
These fit without rubbing and I havent done the body lift that rainsey has done.
Tyres are around the $230 to $250 each mark and the cheapest rims I could find in 16"were $90 each, 15"are around $45 ea.
The 245/75/16 will squeeze onto the std rim which I did for 8 months but are better on the 7" IMO.
The above tyres will effect your speedo and under read around 11%.
Yes for a much maligned vehicle the old rodeo's arn't that bad in the sand are they.
