G'Day Iceman here...

Post by icemanpaj »

so any way for starters a big shout out to all the paj fans on this site. Ive been reading and absorbing all the knowledge put on these pages, great stuff. But now i finally have a problem that i dont have any idea about.
I drive a 99 Nl 2.8td Paj..

I was on my way back from canberra to illawarra, on the Hume doing 110km/h along the concrete road. when all of a sudden the whole car started shuddering.. i pulled over as i thought it was a flat, since i am running Ebay special tyres. :P but they weren't flat or de laminated, so i carried on and thought it was just a bumpy patch of road,
Then 10m down the road it happened again the whole car vibrated violently. i pulled over and checked out all the drive line, i figured it had to have been a tailshaft bearing gone. so i bunged it into 4wd and drove home with no worries, only vibrating when decellerating.
yesterday i pulled the tailshaft apart with dads help and greased all parts, but there was no wear at all on the bearings, which i am stoked with since its got 200000 on the clock.
i looked at the Front left driveshaft CV boot and it is full of water so i am replacing the boot, but this problem isnt just a warn CV cos i had that b4 on my old paj,.
So now i have no idea Why this vibration is happening..
Any help would be muchly appreciated...

not retreds, and im not sure about the front wheel bearings, i haven't looked at them in around 5000km? i've booked it in to go for surgery at the local mechanic and to get 200000km service, hopefully they can tell what the issue is :? oh well,
i cant even ride my motor bike at the moment as i managed to destroy it and my hip into a gutter at 60km/h. have to get lifts every where i need to go, which is bad enough as it is, because i live on a property 15 km from no where...

um well the car is at another mechanics now as the last one said that there was no problem...
this one is a diff specialist and found the problem straight away. :P im stoked it was a collapsed carrier bearing on the front right of the front diff.
should be fixed soon.
