*sigh* I am not worthy

Saw that car in 1985. It rocked my world and I remember it like it was yesterday.

I was 10  Sad, I know. I was doomed.

(couldn't open the file at home)

What's so good about it Paul? It's a pretty basic design.

It's a cool car, no doubt, but the rear end doesn't run any load sharing or bogie that I am aware of so really the rear end is just two (short) 4 linked axles. when on extreme obstacles the centre or rear axle unloads and you are left with a really heavy, bulky 4WD. Some of the photo's demonstrate this.

The owner (who I think is not the builder, the car was built by the owner of USA6X6, one of pirates favourite vendors :D) states it doesn't turn well at all either.

Daddylonglegs 6X6 shows what is possible with a proper bogie design.

Apparently the remains of the 6X6 are still sitting at the bush block Bill Refers to in the LR forums thread.

It was built with landrover diffs upside down, facing backwards, so breakage was a problem he never really overcame.

Bill is one of the most amazing fabricators and driveline guys you could ever meet. That LR in the link you posted is his DD. Who else can say that for a car with that much custom work in the driveline?

Steve.

Sorry, when i first looked I thought it was a rocking bogie. Looking again it is only 4 link.

What's the front diff that faces up with a disc brake on it?

Paul

Someone needs to fully photograph Bills rig and get him to write down as much of the design as he remembers. There are parts of the world where such a rig could be built street legal. The design really needs preserved.

I remember reading in one post about the passive steering in Bills rig, as it leaned outwards in corners the rear axles would steer inward, minimising scrub.
