I'm running some Old Man Emu springs and have removed both the overloads, and all the spring clamps...

what you will gain will just be droop (spring flex)...

mine still handles okay on the street (for a sierra)... but i think that my shocks would have a fair bit of control over this.

cheers

so what do the spring clamps normally do? do they stop the springs from getting outta alignment?

I have a stock sierra and I just bent them up so that they still stop the springs from spreading, but don't limit the amount of seperation between the leaves.
still drives good.

Yeah they stop the springs from getting out of alignment, and from opening up too much too... if you take them off you should (assuming your can put enough leaverage onto them) gain more droop from your springs.
